BEST WAYS TO STUDY
Motivation is very important when studying. I use these methods to get motivated and stay focused:
WRITING YOUR NOTES AGAIN/SUMMARIZING
I usually use this method when I am preparing for an exam. I pick 1 or 2 colors and black, then write my notes in lined or not lined paper. Making cute papers like this with notes really motivates me. It may seem like a waste of time writing your notes again; however, it is scientifically proved that writing makes you memorize stuff easier and faster. Also you are not even writing the same things over and over again; you are summarizing and writing the most important things that are most likely to be on the exam.
The trick to this method is to keep the papers tidy, and not spending so many time on them. The pictures above are good examples and they are quick to make. (look at the 3rd picture to get some tips)
FLASHCARDS
This method is the I one go for when I need to memorize new vocabulary or new terms. You basically write the word you need to memorize on one side and the meaning/translation on the other side. You mix the cards and try remembering the meanings of the words you see on the cards. Continue doing this until you memorize all of them and don't forget to repeat every one or two days. You don't have to repeat all of the cards in one day, you can do only 10 or 20; it is optional.
TAKING A FAKE EXAM
This method is not as helpful as the other ones, but it actually helps. Get an exercise/test book, find some exercises from the internet or make a friend write questions about the topic you are studying for and time yourself. Are you happy with the scores you got?
POMODORO TIMER
This method is a very fun and motivational method which I usually use this when I have a lot of homework or studying ahead. You basically set an timer for 20/25 minutes and do your work. Then you take a 5 minute break. After doing this for 4 rounds without stopping, you take a long 10/15 min break. Then you continue to do this until you have all your work done.
HIGHLIGHTING
You might be thinking this is what everyone knows about studying but you are actually wrong. When we highlight a whole text while reading it, we can remember only a small portion of it. The trick is to know how to highlight in order to have a productive study time. Instead of highlighting the whole book while reading it, try to go by sentence then highlight the most important parts. There might also be parts that are important but not as important than the other ones and it is easier to underline them; with a highlighter :)
Use the picture below when highlighting:
MUSIC
It is known that you cannot study with music or whatever. However, it is scientifically proven that studying with calm and muted music actually helps you understand more and have a productive time. But do not forget: The music must be calm and slow. You can listen to some soothing piano tunes or slow music.
→I have made a playlist for ONLY studying. You can check it out here: https://open.spotify.com/user/catchytunes1/playlist/2dK4ARvkeFlujcQU3XGhgD ("study vibes" by catchytunes1)
POST-ITS
This kind of self-explanatory. You can write a list that you have to memorize on your post-its and stick them on your notebooks, books, desk, or even windows! The more the colors, the better!
PLANNING
This is not a study method in particular, but planning your week/month/day really helps. You can buy a planner, find some online and print them or you can even make your own. I usually find them online but if there is a specific type I want to go for, I prepare my own.
